UNUM Case Management System

New Case Management System

All cases and files will be migrated to the new system so nothing will be lost.

When the implementation is completed users will receive an email with a detailed instruction on how to use the new UNUM case management.

!It will not be possible to login or access files on Tuesday October 15, 12.00 – 16.00!

Unum Transport Arbitration and Mediation

Nine reasons to choose for UNUM arbitration

Are you looking for a form of extrajudicial dispute resolution to achieve speedy and high-quality results in settling disputes? Than arbitration might be your best option.

UNUM is an advocate of well-considered decisions about how to resolve (possible) disputes between parties. Preferably in the contract phase. In some cases the public court might be the best option. In others arbitration or mediation will lead to the best results. In any case it is important for parties to make a choice about how to go deal with disputes might they arise. When it comes to international maritime and trade matters arbitration would be a good choice because of:

  1. the certainty of modern and flexible arbitration rules
  2. expert arbitrators
  3. freedom in choosing arbitrators
  4. freedom in choice of law
  5. the possibility to conduct arbitration proceedings in English
  6. support via the website to distribute documents electronically,
    • with guaranteed security,
    • cost savings, and
    • conveniently and quickly
  7. clarity about costs
  8. guarantee of speedy proceedings, without compromising quality
  9. certainty that a ruling will only be published if permission has been given for that purpose.

Mediation and arbitration might be considered complementary procedures. If parties cannot obtain an agreement on settlement of their dispute by mediation, they can proceed to arbitration. Arbitration proceedings will result in an arbitral award, which is legally binding.

To ensure neutrality and impartiality the mediation procedure and arbitration proceedings are concluded under separate supervision.

Speedy dispute resolution at reasonable cost

Arbitral awards are enforceable in more than 150 jurisdictions under the New York Convention (1958), which includes countries that are not a party to bilateral judicial enforcement treaties. In the light of political developments worldwide and in particular, in Europe, it is noticeable that an arbitral award will be enforceable in the United Kingdom even since the United Kingdom is no longer an EU member.

By choosing UNUM arbitration, you are opting for qualitative and speedy dispute resolution at a reasonable cost.

Professional, transparent, independent and reliable

UNUM Transport Arbitration & Mediation stands for a professional, transparent, independent and reliable platform that might unite parties in finding a solution to resolve their dispute in mediation or provide a decision by rendering an arbitral award in order to relieve parties from an unresolved issue. UNUM offers a platform and services for professional specialised extrajudicial dispute resolution in shipping, shipbuilding, transport, logistics, and international trade.

When you include the UNUM arbitration clause in your contract you can rely on professional, transparent, efficient, and speedy dispute resolution with high quality results. The listed meditators and arbitrators are international professionals. They are engaged, knowledgeable, neutral, impartial, and result oriented. This opens the door to quick and cost-effective dispute resolution.
